बच्चे की लंबाई मां के गर्भ से ही बढ़नी शुरू हो जाती है। जन्म के बाद बच्चे की लंबाई करीब 50 सेमी. होनी चाहिए। बच्चे की उम्र एक साल हो गई तो उसकी लंबाई 75 सेमी. होनी चाहिए। यानि एक साल के भीतर 25 सेमी. हाइट बढऩी चाहिए।
